Royal Palace

Our entrance fee is included with the tour and it turns out to be a beautiful day with sunny skies.
Royal Palace

There is not near as many people touring the Royal Palace as we seen in Bangkok at the Grand Palace. It made it much easier to move around and a lot simpler to take good pictures.
Royal Palace

The whole palace area seems to be kept a little cleaner than the one in Bangkok and I was a little surprised to see it in such good shape.
Royal Palace

With all the turmoil that has gone on in Cambodia over the last few decades I was expecting a little less than was here.
Royal Palace

Over the last few days I have witnessed a poor country as we drove through some of the country side but what we walked through this morning was in contrast.

Buffet Lunch

After our tour we stopped off at a great Buffet Restaurant near the center of Phnom Penh. For $7.00 USD it was a fabulous deal with lots to choose from and everything was prepared very well. I returned many times to the Buffet but I can not remember the name of the restaurant!
Along the river in Phnom Penh

Our next stop was a visit by the river where you can find many modern shops and a fairly safe area to walk around and take a few pictures. We had a few hours on our own so I found an air conditioned internet café for awhile to hide from the relentless heat and humidity.
Along the river

The weather is one thing that will stay in my mind when I think of Cambodia. Walking out of the Hotel early in the morning away from the air conditioning and I found myself sweating with in minutes.

Flight to Siem Reap

Our van picks us up around 3:30 for a short trip back to the hotel for our luggage and then another short ride to the airport. Check in was quick and easy and we are off on our flight to Siem Reap taking only 45 minutes. We walk from the plane to the terminal and I could help to notice all the bats flying around just over our heads. It was dark out and they were a little hard to see, I think probably a good thing for some of the people on board. It may have frightened a few of them.
Our guide meets us once we pick up our luggage and we are off the hotel being less than half hour away. We are staying at the Casa Angkor Hotel for the next 3 nights, Room #321. After getting settled in our rooms we meet for dinner and decide on the Dead Fish Restaurant near the center of town and just a short trip in a Tuk Tuk. It was one dollar each for our trip there and another dollar each to get back. Another good meal and with plenty to drink for $12.00 USD making it quite affordable.
