Last day of the tour takes us back to the airport in Cairo on my way back to Canada.

End of Egypt adventure

End of Egypt adventure

Wake up call this morning was an early 5:30 a.m. and breakfast was being served by 6:00. My bus ride was not to be included in my price but the people from the United Kingdom were going on the same flight as me. Their bus fare was included so my guide was kind enough to let me tag along for free since there was room on the bus anyways. By 6:30 a.m. we are on our way with our luggage with plenty of time to catch our flight. It’s hard to predict the traffic and its better to be early than late for our flight. It was only an hour to get to the checkin area, there was a short wait but I don’t mind.

Our 10:30 a.m. flight is on time and it was a bus ride from the terminal to the plane. Flight was smooth and ended up sitting with someone else going to Edmonton. Sophia and I are to be on the same flights right into Calgary. We land at 1:30 p.m. local time in London Heathrow Airport.

It would be a three and a half hour wait for my next flight to Calgary. I found the airport in London expensive with a coffee at Starbucks costing me around Six Canadian dollars! I had to go through the connection flight security and then get my boarding pass at an Air Canada counter. I find out that my early connecting flight in Calgary was probably sold out and I would have a long wait in Calgary. I was to check again in Calgary once I landed in case there were any early seats available. No gate was printed on my boarding pass for Calgary so it was a waiting game to see what gate we would be boarding. Once it was posted on the overhead screens there wasn’t much time. You had to be watching closely otherwise I'd miss my flight.

We left on time, 5:00 p.m., and it was a 9 hour flight. But with the time difference, it was only a 2 hour difference in local time when we land in Calgary at 7:00 p.m. I sat with a lady going back to Edmonton also and she turned out to be quite talkative and time passed by quickly giving me some great advice. The original flight to Edmonton was sold out so it was another three and a half hour wait in Calgary before heading home. It gave me plenty on time to have some lunch in Montana’s resturant. I was craving a beef burger and it was just what I needed at the time. My flight leaves on time and it was through Customs at Edmonton with no problem and I was back home around Midnight.
