Main gathering area at hotel

Many hotels to choose from along the main beach

I book a day tour to Excaret, a 45 minute bus ride from the hotel to this water park

Another feature of the park was an ancient ball game played long ago.

Later on that night we see a display of how they think the game was played, they're not entirely sure of the exact rules of it all since the history of it is lost.

Also built within the rock formations of Excaret is a theatre.

The last part of this day trip is spent watching a show in the theatre.

Another trip in the morning was a bus ride over to Tulum where we had a chance to walk around the ruins.

It was a perfect place to take a few pictures

A full day to visit Chichen Itza. It was a 3 hour bus ride one way to reach the site.

This is the Western side of the pyramid

The North West corner. This corner makes the image of the serpents tail along the walk way on the equinoxes

The steps are quite steep and not everyone makes it to the top.

On my way up to the top I stop to take a picture to capture how steep it is with no safe guards in place.

Walking around the grounds looking at the other ruins.

Lots of detail in the wall carvings made so long ago.

They call this the observation tower. It's hard to say what it was used for since this whole area was not used in modern times.
